ELEMENT BACKUP 6/S5 Varta

This system comes with a nominal capacity of 6.5 kWh, including one 6.5 kWh battery module. The battery is made of Lithium-Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt oxide (NMC), with a discharge depth of 90%. The system features multi-stage, hard- and software-redundant cell monitoring for safety.

The maximum AC power for charging and discharging is 2.2 kW and 1.8 kW respectively. The system also includes an integrated 3-phase battery inverter and power electronics. The nominal current for emergency power operation is 5.8 A per phase, with a maximum overload of 12 A per phase. The switching time for emergency power operation is less than 90 seconds.

The system is rated IP22 for protection and requires a 400 V AC, 3-phase, phase-symmetric power supply at 50 Hz (TN- and TT-networks). The cooling system features temperature-dependent fan control, and the typical/maximal noise emission is 42 dBA/49 dBA.

The system is designed for indoor installation, with an ambient temperature range of +5°C to +30°C. The system comes with a 10-year warranty (with permanent internet connection) or a 5-year warranty (without internet connection). The battery cells are also covered with a 10-year or 4,000 cycle warranty (whichever comes first, with a residual capacity of 80%). For functions, the system comes with an energy management system (EMS) VS-Pro 2, which measures performance using a current sensor (included in the package). It also offers production data visualization and dynamic active power limitation through Sunspec.

The VARTA Storage App for Android and iOS, web portal, and local web server allow for easy system monitoring and management. The system also has hardware interfaces, including RJ45 (Ethernet) and 2x RJ12 (current sensor and PV sensor), as well as smart home interfaces such as XML, Modbus TCP, and Sunspec. The system also includes switching contacts for load and generator control (Rutenbeck TCR IP 4), as well as backup power functionality with automatic switching and black start (through the separately available VARTA emergency power box).
